Terms of Use

Last updated: October 6, 2026

Closeleaf (“the Service”) is operated by Closeleaf. By using the Service you agree to these terms. The Service is currently free of charge; there are no paid features or purchases.

What the Service does

The Service reads Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet exports that you provide, calculates figures and ratios from them, drafts sentences from fixed rules, and lets you download a PDF report. It runs in your browser. It does not connect to QuickBooks, Xero or any other accounting system, does not send reports, and does not keep copies of your data on a server.

Not accounting, tax or financial advice

The Service, its calculations, its draft commentary and the guides on this website are general information and tools only. They are not accounting, tax, legal, investment or financial advice, and the Service does not audit, review or verify any figures. Results depend on the files you import and on how rows and columns are mapped. Draft commentary is generated from templates and may be incomplete or unsuitable; you are responsible for reviewing, correcting and approving every figure and sentence before sharing a report. Estimates such as “runway” are simple arithmetic on reported figures, not forecasts.

Your data and your clients' data

Your data is stored in your browser on your device (see the Privacy Policy). We can't see, recover or restore it. Keep your own backups and protect them. You are responsible for having the right to use the client information you import and for meeting any confidentiality obligations to your clients.

Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to create false or misleading financial reports or for any unlawful purpose.

Free PDFs

PDFs created with the free Service include a small line in the footer saying they were prepared with Closeleaf, with a link to this website.

Trademarks

QuickBooks is a trademark of Intuit Inc. Xero is a trademark of Xero Limited. Closeleaf is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Intuit or Xero. Their names are used only to describe the file formats the Service can read.

No warranty; limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, revenue or business, arising from your use of the Service or of reports made with it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.

Changes

We may change the Service or these terms. The date above shows the latest version.
