1 Import the client's reports
Export the Profit and Loss and the Balance Sheet from QuickBooks Online (Export → Export to Excel or CSV) or Xero (Export → Excel). Monthly columns (for example, the last 13 months) give you trends and comparisons. Files are read in this browser and never uploaded.
Review mapping
Check how the file was read. Change the header row, the period of each column or the category of any account, then apply. Accounts marked check were categorised from their name only.

3 Edit the commentary
Draft for your review. These sentences are produced from the numbers by fixed rules (no internet connection, nothing is sent anywhere). Check and edit every sentence before sending; untick any you don't want. They are not accounting, tax or financial advice.
4 Download the PDF
Free PDFs include a small “Prepared with Closeleaf” line in the footer.

The free version works with one client at a time.
Saved reports
Reports are saved automatically in this browser as you work, one per client and period.
Backup and data
Everything (firm settings, client, saved reports including the imported figures) lives only in this browser's storage. Clearing browser data or using a private window removes it. Keep a backup file somewhere safe; it contains your client's financial figures.
Delete all data
Removes firm settings, the client and every saved report from this browser. This can't be undone.
